Thank you for looking at the website of Finsbury Badminton Club. We play at Finsbury Leisure Centre, Norman Street, EC1. The nearest tube is Old Street (come out of Exit 7) or Barbican. . The Club has 2 sections, A and B. We do set a minimum playing standard but the Club also has a strong social element. PLAYING TIMES Finsbury A meets every Tuesday (20.00-22.00hrs) and every Sunday (18.00-20.00hrs) Finsbury B meets every Sunday (18:00-20:00 hrs).
POTENTIAL MEMBERS We invite potential members to come and play on a Sunday only. .Both sections have a minimum standard and guests are asked to first try out in the B section. Normally we don't make decisions until someone has come down 3 times to give people a chance to relax and get into their game. Visitor fees are £6 per session. If you would like to try out as a guest please contact our Guest Liaison Officer, Tom Sellwood by email (and copy myself, Sarah Mortimer) providing details of your name, contact number/s, badminton experience and an idea of your standard. The club is very busy and we have to limit the number of visitors to 2 per week so please stay in email contact in case we have to close a particular session to visitors.
Membership for 12 months in Finsbury A costs £155 and each session costs £2.00 There are reductions for students and those unemployed. All fees can be paid in instalments and if you join later than September in any year, the fees will be adjusted to take this into account
MATCH TEAMS We have a total of 12 teams in the Hammersmith and Middlesex Leagues. The A section runs 3 Mens Teams, 2 Ladies teams and 2 Mixed teams. The B section runs 1 Mens, and 1 Mixed team. In addition the Club runs 3 teams (Mens, Ladies and Mixed ) which takes players from both Sections.
