Mayor Janice Lim is a seasoned public servant and community advocate with over 20 years of volunteer experience. Committed to preserving the charm and beauty of the city, she brings a unique blend of business acumen, architectural insight, and civic dedication to her role.

Mayor Lim began her professional journey with a successful career as a senior financial analyst, contributing to major investment projects such as the Century Plaza Towers in Century City and Vista Del Verde in Yorba Linda. After establishing herself in the financial sector, she ventured into entrepreneurship, launching her own small business and collaborating on innovative projects, including a pioneering app that connects social media influencers with brick-and-mortar retailers.

Before stepping into public service, Lim also worked as an Account Coordinator for Lancaster Group USA, where she led efforts to introduce designer fragrances to Southern California’s retail market. During her postgraduate studies, she served as an Assistant Faculty member in USC’s Marshall School of Business, Department of Finance & Business Economics.

Later, she transitioned her focus to investment, feasibility analysis, and land use, working with top firms such as Charles Dunn Company, Tooley & Co., Trammell Crow Company, and JF Shea Companies. These roles deepened her expertise in urban planning and budget management, while reinforcing her commitment to smart, sustainable development.

The youngest of five children, Mayor Lim exhibited extraordinary determination by working multiple jobs and earning academic scholarships to fund her education. She made history at the University of Southern California by becoming the first student to simultaneously graduate with dual bachelor’s degrees from both the Marshall School of Business and the School of Architecture.

Mayor Lim has been married for 29 years to Rick, an internal medicine physician. They have two children, Kristen and Eric, both of whom attended local public and private schools. Janice and Rick, who met in grade school and grew up together in a small church in Glendale, now reside in Yorba Linda and attend Friends Church Yorba Linda. The family’s personal motto— “Faith, Family, Knowledge”—is inscribed on a crest designed by Mayor Lim herself, serving as a constant reminder of the values they hold dear.
